Experience the healing nature of Iceland

Updated: Dec 29, 2021

-with the February edition of Norlii box

I want to give you a glimpse of Nordic bathing traditions and convey the concept of the bath as something that can soothe your soul, calm your mind, and renew your body. In this day and age I believe it is important to connect with nature, reenergize and immerse yourself in the luxury of wellness. Iceland has something to offer, also when it comes to bathing traditions.

Iceland is unique, with untouched nature, pure water, geothermal activity, and profound natural powers. Natural hot springs are prominent features of Iceland's physical geography. For centuries people have been bathing in the Icelandic natural geothermal pools and the clean Arctic Ocean. Making the most out of what nature offers to cure and care for the health has been vital for centuries.

ANGAN skincare, as you will find in the Norlii February box, was born rooted in these rituals of Iceland, using old remedies with wild handpicked arctic botanicals that have been used for centuries to nourish the skin. I fell in love with the brand when I first found it.

ANGAN is a sustainable Icelandic skincare brand founded by architect and nature lover Iris Laxdal. When we rang Angan Skincare to ask if we could have their products in the Norlii box, Iris immediately began finding herbs and harvesting the salt just for our Norlii subscribers. You can't get a fresher salt scrub than that.

Each of their products is handcrafted with the mind-set of making pure and natural skincare, built on using only the highest quality of effective natural raw ingredients found in the beautiful Icelandic nature.

The mission of ANGAN is to remind you to take care of yourself, nurture yourself, remember yourself, pamper yourself and thereby create a foundation of mental serenity, balance, and feel more confident.

Angan collaborates with the sustainable Icelandic sea salt producer Saltverk located in the secluded Westfjords, which produces the mineral-rich sea salt with geothermal energy as the sole energy source, leaving zero carbon footprints. The mineral-rich sea salt is rich in magnesium, potassium, calcium, and sodium. All herbs used when producing their exclusive products are hand-harvested. Can you imagine any herb fresher than that? The name ANGAN means "the scent of Icelandic nature."

I am so proud to share two ANGAN products in the February 2021 edition of the Norlii home decor box:

Seaweed bath salt

Seaweed helps detoxify and draws excess fluid and waste impurities from the skin. Decreases the appearance of fine lines by smoothing & moisturizing the skin. 100g

Icelandic Moss salt scrub

Icelandic moss consists of algae and fungus growing together in a beneficial relationship. It is anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-oxidant & helps in smoothing the skin. 100 g

The organic products are free from synthetic ingredients and all handmade in small batches in Iceland, knowing what goes into every bottle.

Fill the tub with hot water, or use your shower, turn down the lights, light the Altum candle and immerse yourself in the salty water releasing any stress and tension. Inhale the wonderful scents and exhale any stress from the day—calming mind and body. Make it a ritual and create time for it.

Scandinavia and the Nordics

The meaning of 'Scandinavia' is the group of countries in northern Europe that includes Denmark, Norway, and Sweden, sometimes also Finland, Iceland, and the Faroe Islands.

Finland and Iceland are not considered part of Scandinavia geographically, but certainly culturally.
